Pope Gregory IX mentions the community and the church in a papal bull.
1505 – Church rebuilt
Antonio Giacomo Tiepolo, a Venetian nobleman, restores the church, bell tower, and rectory after a
long period of neglect.
1505 – Church property and bell returned
Bishop Angelo Leonini gives back to the parish of Tiepolo the lands and a bell that is still in the bell
tower today.
42 A.D. – Martyrdom of Saint James
Saint James the Greater, patron saint of pilgrims, was executed by King Herod’s orders and
became the first apostle to be martyred.
9th century – The body arrives in Spain
The remains of Saint James arrive in Galicia, where the famous pilgrimage site Santiago de
Compostela is founded, attracting pilgrims from all over Europe.
August 21, 1986 – The camper miracle
A woman miraculously survives a severe accident in San Giacomo and credits her survival to a
vow made to the saint.
